This year the “fuzzy Jesus” turns 10 years old, you’ve probably seen memes with him, but not everyone knows about this fairy tale success story of naive art. In a temple in the small Spanish town of Borje, the humid winds began to erode a fresco of Jesus. Cecilia, an active 80-year-old parishioner, offered to have it restored for free, and after a couple of years, “it” turned out. The scandal was short-lived, because the Jesus got so wiggly that tourists started coming to town. Now it is a symbol of Borje, the temple produces a souvenir with this fellow, in every shop you can find a cahor with a fluffy Jesus, and even opened a museum dedicated to this phenomenon. The old lady, of course, demanded deductions, and now a percentage of the sales goes to her and to the pensioners’ fund.
